Egypt to borrow EGP 98.750bn in T-bills and T-bonds in Sep

Cairo-Mubasher: Egypt's Ministry of Finance plans to offer treasury bills and treasury bonds totaling EGP 98.750 billion in September 2015.

Accordingly the total value of the T-bills and T-bonds will amount to EGP 262 billion in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2015/2016, said an official statement.

The Ministry of Finance issued treasury bills of EGP 80 billion and 83.250 billion in July and August respectively.

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) on behalf of the Ministry of Finance will hold in September a 91-day auction at a value of EGP 35.5 billion, a 182-day auction at a value of EGP 42.5 million, a 273-day auction at a value of EGP 56 billion, a 364-day auction at a value of EGP 21 billion and 18 months (Zero coupon) auction at a value of EGP 11.9 billion.

As for the treasury bonds, the ministry plans to offer a 3-year T-bonds at EGP 5.5 billion, a 5-year at EGP 3 billion to due on July 2020 at EGP 3 billion , a 5-year at EGP 6 billion to due on August 2020 at EGP 6 billion, a 7-year at EGP 3.5 billion and a 10-year at EGP 5.250 billion.

The country's budget deficit increased to EGP 261.8 billion by 10.8% in proportion to the gross domestic product (GDP) within 11 months period from July 2014 to May 2015.
